Harrison White’s two-run double in the third inning highlighted a three-run outburst, and the visiting Florence Freedom held on for a 4-2 victory over the Joliet Slammers on Sunday to take the rubber game of the weekend series.

Trailing 1-0, Florence loaded the bases in the third inning for White, who doubled to right field to give his team a 2-1 lead. Jordan Brower’s RBI grounder later plated a third run to extend Florence’s advantage to 3-1.

Florence starter Chuck Weaver scattered four hits in six innings to pick up the win. The Freedom bullpen tossed three innings of scoreless baseball to preserve the victory, with Cody Gray getting the final two outs to record the save.

The win allowed Florence to take the three-game road series, 2-1.

On Saturday night, Joliet rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to pull out an 8-7 win over Florence. Travis Bolin’s infield single drove in the winning run with two outs.

Skyler Ewing and Jacob Wark each belted home runs for Florence in the loss, and they both finished with three RBI. Caleb Lopes went 2-for-5 and scored twice for the Freedom.

Florence returns home to begin a series with the Normal CornBelters at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday at UC Health Stadium.
