Mike Hill blasted a pair of homers and drove in four runs as the Washington Wild Things coasted to a 12-4 win over the Florence Freedom on Thursday night at UC Health Stadium.
Hill — who now has 10 homers this season — went 4-for-5 and scored three times for the Wild Things, who avoided a sweep in the three-game series with the victory. The Freedom had posted wins in the opening two games.
Washington built a 9-2 lead after five innings and cruised to the win. The Wild Things collected 16 hits and swatted five homers.
Jacob Wark went 3-for-4 with a homer and scored three runs to lead the Freedom. Ricky Ramirez also was 3-for-4 and added a homer for Florence, which finished with seven hits.
Florence starting pitcher Steve Hagen suffered the loss, surrendering 11 hits and 11 runs (8 earned runs) in 6 2/3 innings on the mound. He also struck out five batters.
The Freedom hit the road Friday and play at Lake Erie at 7:05 p.m.
