A former Cincinnati Reds bat boy who drew national attention will be the guest speaker at the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame fundraising dinner from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at American Legion Post 203 on Winston Avenue in Latonia.
Teddy Kremer, who has Down syndrome, won a raffle to be an honorary Reds bat boy for one game during the 2012 season. He was such a hit with the players and coaches that he was invited back and became a regular in the Reds dugout. His relationship with the team became the subject of numerous national television reports and newspaper articles.
Kremer went on to become an author and public speaker. He published “Stealing First: The Teddy Kremer Story” in 2016. He will host a presentation about his life story at the fundraising dinner on Wednesday.
Admission to the dinner is $10, which includes food from Skyline Chili. There will be a cash bar for drinks. Memorabilia donated by Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame members will also be on display.
The Hall of Fame will resume its monthly induction ceremonies on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. at Villa Hills Civic Club. The ceremonies are free and open to the public.
