Highlands High School will induct 10 new members into its Hall of Fame and honor the the 1978-79 boys basketball team that won the program’s first 9th Region championship during a ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday that will close out homecoming weekend.
The induction ceremony that’s open to the public will be at Highlands Performing Center in the high school building followed by a dinner at Highland Country Club.
One of the Hall of Fame inductees is Mike Vories, starting point guard on the 1978-79 regional champion basketball team who finished his high school career with 1,360 points. He was also a shortstop on the baseball team for four years.
The other additions to the Highlands Hall of Fame will be:
Angela Barre Falhaber (Class of 1998) — Earned 20 varsity letters in five sports; named Kentucky Female Athlete of the Year by the Associated Press in 1998.
David Freer (1971) — Scored 26 touchdowns as all-state running back on undefeated 1970 football team; earned varsity letters in basketball and track.
Tammy Schlarman Freihofer (1990) — Finished basketball career with more than 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds; Led volleyball teams to three regional titles.
Justin Frisk (1997) — Scored 74 touchdowns and rushed for more than 4,500 yards in football; Led 1997 team to perfect 15-0 record and state championship.

Eric Glaser (1997) — Selected in second round of Major League Baseball draft after strong senior season as pitcher; Played on 1997 state runner-up basketball team and was named Player of the Year by local coaches.
Bill Herrmann (coach) — Compiled 81-18 record as head football coach and three teams won state titles; Coached three other sports, including 1965 baseball team that won regional title and made it to state semifinals.
Scott Kuhnhein (1998) — Named first-team all-state as lineman in football and played on undefeated 1996 state championship team; Won state titles and set team records in both shot put and discuss.
Jean Pritchard (1976) — Earned 10 varsity letters in volleyball, basketball, tennis and track; Set school record in girls discus that lasted 38 years.
Dr. Kimberly Draud Rohmiller (1990) — Won four consecutive regional singles titles in tennis and received All-America honors; Played on regional champion volleyball tram in 1989 and was an all-state nominee.
