Letters to Editor: Brian Rickert, Deborah McNeil for Bonnie Rickert, L. Steidel for Keene, Roberts, Kilmer

Brian Rickert support wife, Bonnie, for Family Court Judge

I am writing to encourage voters in Boone and Gallatin County to join me in voting for my wife, Bonnie Rickert, candidate for Family Court Judge.

Bonne is a wonderful wife and remarkable mom to our children. I know how hard she works and how deeply she cares about the youth of this community. The kids and I have watched as Bonnie has agonized over decisions on the School Board, confident in the end she would always come down on the side of what’s right for the youth.

Since Bonnie decided to run for Family Court Judge, I have witnessed her approach this campaign with the same work ethic that allowed her to graduate 3rd in her class as the mother of young children.

Bonnie never does anything half-way, she gives it her all. Whether parenting our children, serving on the school board, practicing family law, or helping arrange for food for children in our school system who don’t really know where the next meal is coming from. Bonnie never lets up.

Bonnie does not come from a political background, we have not hired a bunch of consultants and spin doctors. Our campaign is a truly grassroots effort of family, friends, and professional colleagues who know that Bonnie is running because in her heart she sees this as another extension of her efforts to make certain every child in this community can compete in life and achieve their highest aspirations.

More than twenty years ago I asked a remarkable young woman to be my wife. She has given me two wonderful children and made me proud each day that she said yes. Now, I am asking you to trust her just as I did, I can assure you she will make you as proud as she has made me.

Please vote Bonnie Rickert for Family Court Judge in Boone and Gallatin Counties.

Brian Rickert

Setting the Record Straight on Republican Spin: Vote Roberts, Keene, Kilmer

Republican legislators are putting out the word that the 41 new taxes and fees imposed on the middle class SAVED teacher pensions. Don’t be fooled. It really went to subsidize the huge tax cut for the top 5 percent, 3,200 families out of about 4.5 million Kentuckians.
Our Republican counterparts in Campbell County recently released on Facebook an admonition to teachers to “believe the data, not the talking points.” (This post has since been removed.) They reported that the 2018 budget bill fully funds the teacher retirement system for the first time in over a decade. What they don’t tell you is that they:

 Reduced the exclusion for pension income to force retirees to pay more income tax on earned retirement benefits;

 Funded retiree health coverage in ways that if repeated in future budgets would negatively impact retiree health care.

 Eliminated funds for textbooks and valuable programs that support teachers and educators in their work.

 Cut higher education funding, continuing the trend that has reduced funding by 35 percent since 2008, once adjusted for inflation.

 Passed the sewer pension bill with no actuarial data that the changes will actually save the state money in the long term.

Wil Schroder’s record of hurting teachers is well known. The only ship he righted was that of the wealthy. Joe Fischer has ignored the needs of education and educators for nearly 20 years. Schroder and Fischer own their votes that hurts teachers and every Kentuckian. #VoteThemOut2018

Vote for your future and for the future of Kentucky on November 6. Vote Rachel Roberts, State Senator District 24; Dennis Keene State Representative District 67; and Jason Kilmer, State Representative District 68.

Vote for Bonnie Ricker for Family Court Judge

As a Democrat, I am reaching outside my comfort zone to support a registered Republican, Bonnie Rickert, who is running for Family Court Judge.

In looking over the information from all candidates, it is clear to me that Mrs. Rickert has the life experience to be an effective and fair judge who will make rulings based on what is best for the children, which is what we so desperately need.

Given the system we have, we need to look at the qualifications of the candidates, and I believe Bonnie Rickert’s experience as an attorney, her service on the Boone County School Board, and as President of the GO Pantry which provides food for hungry children in our community, makes her the best candidate. Clearly she is a leader with a heart, and we need public officials with a caring heart when it comes to making decisions concerning our children.

In conclusion, I am voting for Bonnie Rickert for Family Court Judge, and I hope you will too.

  1. Bonnie is exactly what family courts need but more than family courts the children that become victimized over and over again. As a mother, wife and clearly a valued member of her community I hope she puts the kiddos first.

  2. I have known Bonnie Rickert since she was in 8th grade. I watched her grow up. As a retired educator, I had the pleasure of observing her service on the Boone County Board of Education. She is a winner and advocate for children. Her sign is in my yard! I fully support her.
