Kenton County Public Library Star Ranked again in 2018

The Kenton County Public Library has been given a four-star ranking by leading trade publication Library Journal. The Kenton County Public Library has been consistently highly ranked over the past six years and only one of two library systems in Kentucky to receive this honor.

Annually Library Journal ranks libraries across the country based on library visits, circulation, e-book circulation, program attendance, and public Internet computer use. The LJ Index gives an overall indication of how libraries stack up to their peers nationally. Library Journal ranks libraries on a three, four or five-star rating.

Kenton County received a four-star rating and was ranked 16th in its category based on libraries across the nation.

“We are honored to be recognized again by Library Journal,” said Dave Schroeder, executive director for the Kenton County Public Library. “Our staff consistently works on new ways to engage residents whether it be in the Library or out in the community. We are constantly monitoring and responding to the needs of our community. Most recently we have expanded services for job seekers and created maker spaces at each of our branches. We strive for innovation and engagement with those we work for in our community.

Last fiscal year, the Kenton County Public Library was visited by 845,576 guests who checked out more than 2.2 million items. The Library welcomed 198,529 people to its programs and staff answered 263,750 questions.

“Libraries are critical to the community,” said Schroeder. “In addition to finding books, people now use the Library to conduct business, find jobs, create items in our maker spaces and relax in a welcoming environment. It is always an honor to be recognized on a national level for the superior work done by our Trustees, volunteers and staff.”
