The 15th annual Boone County Early Childhood Festival takes place Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at Boone County Public Library, Main Library, 1786 Burlington Pike in Burlington.
The Early Childhood Fair will provide families the opportunity to speak with local businesses, agencies, and schools about the educational, developmental, and recreational opportunities available to young children in the area. More than 40 vendors will be available to answer questions about early childhood services, and provide information on how to support the growth and development of our youngest learners. Visitors can also register to win door prizes.
Tales the Library dragon will be on-hand to meet and greet the kids and pose for photos.
Jugglers and balloon artists from Cincinnati Circus Company will roam the festival and entertain the children. Cool Critters will have live animals at the fair from 10 to 11 a.m.
The Lions Club will be offering free walk-in vision screenings for all ages, beginning as early as six months. The Library and the Boone Campbell Kenton Pendleton Community Early Childhood Council will offer free developmental screenings for children from ages two months to 5 years.
Screenings allow parents and caregivers to catch problems early and provide reassurance that their child is acting, playing, or speaking in ways that are expected at different ages.
At the end of the screening, parents will have a good understanding of what developmental milestones have been reached, what to expect next, and what activities can be done at home to support their child’s development.
The Early Childhood Festival is a collaborative effort of the Boone Campbell Kenton Pendleton Community Early Childhood Council, Boone County Success By 6, and Boone County Public Library.
