Ryle doubles partners Haliemae Laurino, left, and Elizabeth Hamilton.

Ryle seniors Elizabeth Hamilton and Haliemae Laurino advanced to the semifinals as the No. 2 seed in girls doubles. If they win their semifinal match against Jaycie Mair and Katherine Ann Shasy of Lexington Catholic at 9 a.m. Saturday, they’ll become Ryle’s first state finalists in tennis.

Covington Catholic seniors Benito and Cristiano Trojani made it to the final four as the No. 4 seed in boys doubles. They will face Hart Howard and Aidan Sheridan-Redideau of Louisville Manual at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Two boys singles players — Anderson McDowell of Campbell County and Toshi Watanabe of Covington Latin — lost quarterfinal matches to higher seeded opponents Friday.

The Class 2A state track meet could not be completed Friday due to heavy rain in Lexington. It will resume Saturday morning at the University of Kentucky.
