Lytle Tunnel work to require overnight, weekend closures; 4th Street ramp in Covington also impacted

The Interstate 71 Lytle Tunnel will be closed in the northbound direction during the overnight hours this weekend for regularly scheduled maintenance operations.

Northbound I-71 will be closed at the I-71/75 split at Ohio Exit No. 1A/1B, from 10 p.m. Friday, September 27, until 9 a.m. Saturday, September 28, and again from 10 p.m. Saturday, the 28th, until 9 a.m. Sunday, September 29.

Traffic will be diverted to northbound I-75 and detoured via eastbound S.R. 562 to I-71. There will be no access to the tunnel from eastbound Fort Washington Way (I-71/U.S. 50); however, U.S. 50 will remain open.

In addition, the Fourth Street entrance ramp to northbound I-71 in Covington, KY. will be closed, with traffic diverted via the Twelfth Street entrance to I-71/75, and traffic by way of the Second Street entrance ramp to northbound I-71 in Cincinnati may use the Fifth Street entrance ramp.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zone and restrictions. All work is contingent upon the weather, and for ongoing traffic, construction and weather-related information across the state, click here.
