Five Thomas More players scored in double figures Saturday as the Saints cruised to a 107-62 win over UC-Clermont at the Connor Convocation Center.
Ryan Batte led Thomas More (2-0) with 18 points, 12 of those in the first half as the Saints built a 55-30 lead at intermission. Thomas More used a 10-0 run in the first half to turn a 13-12 lead into a 23-12 advantage and shot 63.3 percent from the field during the opening 20 minutes.
Luke Rudy and Max Knisley both finished with 14 points for Thomas More, which converted 62.1 percent of its shots from the field. The Saints finished with a 47-24 advantage on the boards as Walker grabbed nine rebounds. The hosts also held the Cougars (0-1) to just 35.2 percent shooting from the field.
Rudy and Knisley each buried four 3-pointers as the Saints finished 13-for-22 from long range. Connor and Payton Jutte both drained a pair of 3-pointers for Thomas More. Noah Pack dished out a game-high five assists, while Connor added four helpers and five rebounds.
Greg Marsh scored 16 points to lead UC-Clermont. The Cougars were 6-for-25 from 3-point range and committed 11 turnovers.
Thomas More plays host to Miami-Hamilton at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. UC-Clermont, which competes in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, visits Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at BB&T Arena.
