Bishop Brossart High School promotes Garren Parker to head coach of girls basketball program

Bishop Brossart High School has selected Garren Parker to be the new head coach of the girls basketball team that won the 10th Region championship last season.

Parker coached the girls freshman team at Brossart during the 2020-21 school year. He also spent several years coaching both boys and girls grade school and AAU teams.

Parker was promoted to head coach to replace Kevin Bundy, who resigned in June and then became head coach at Mason County. Last season, the Brossart girls won their first 10th Region post-season tournament since 2001 under Bundy. In his five years as head coach, the Mustangs compiled a 95-52 record and won three 10th Region All “A” Classic championships.

Bob Rowe is returning to the Brossart girls basketball coaching staff as a varsity assistant. Rowe, principal at Covington Catholic High School, has been on the coaching staff for the last three years. He was a long-time assistant with the Brossart boys basketball program as well as head baseball coach for 11 seasons.

Emily Drees and Maddie Flaugher also return as members of the Brossart coaching staff. They’ll be joined by Adam Franzen, who returned to the school last year as a teacher.

The Mustangs have two starters back from last year’s region championship team. One of the three senior starters who graduated was center Marie Kiefer. She was named 10th Region Player of the Year after posting team-high averages of 19.6 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Brossart is one of three Northern Kentucky girls basketball teams that will have new head coaches for the 2021-22 season. Boone County hired Todd Humphrey and Beechwood hired Isaac Speicher during the summer.
