Kentucky Democracy Project plans candidate meet and greet, voter registration events in Covington

September 27, 2022September 26, 2022

With Kentucky’s voter registration deadline for the November election approaching on Tuesday, October 11, the Kentucky Democracy Project is planning a series of events to help both register voters and to get to know the candidates seeking to represent them.

The series of events includes two candidate meet and greets and two pub crawls over the first two weekends of October, along with other opportunities to help register voters across Northern Kentucky.

On Saturday, October 1, from 4 to 6 p.m., the Kentucky Democracy Project will be set up at Piper’s Ice Cream Bar near the corner of 5th and Philadelphia Streets in Covington for their Democracy Ice Cream Social. Candidates from Kenton County have been invited to attend, with several already confirming their attendance. In addition, the Kentucky Democracy Project will be able to help those in attendance register to vote.

Following the ice cream social, pizza is being donated by GoodFella’s in Mainstrasse, and volunteers will then break into teams and receive training on registering voters. They will begin a pub crawl starting at Piper’s at 7 p.m. to register voters. Several bars have already been confirmed, including Green House Bar, Bourbon House 1841, Crafts and Vines, and ending at Rosie’s Tavern. They are hoping to add other stops along the way.

The following weekend will take people to Newport, where the pub crawl will be on Saturday, October 8 beginning at Wooden Cask Brewing on York Street at 7 p.m. Several bars have already been confirmed, including Game Time Sports Bar & Grill – Newport, Mansion Hill Tavern, Jerry’s Jug House, and end at The Crazy Fox Saloon.

Finally, on Sunday, October 9, Kentucky Democracy Project is hosting Coffee with Candidates. This event will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at Roebling Point Books and Coffee at the corner of 6th and Overton in Newport. They have invited a variety of candidates from Campbell County to attend, with several already confirming they will be there. In addition, the Kentucky Democracy Project will be able to help people register to vote.
