The Scott volleyball team maintained its perfect record in 10th Region tournament first-round matches with a 3-2 victory over Bourbon County on Monday at Harrison County High School.

Since becoming a 10th Region team in 2012, Scott has compiled an 11-0 record in the tournament’s opening rounds and 25-5 record overall under coach Andrea Sullivan. The Eagles have played in nine of 11 region finals and won the title five times with the last one coming in 2020.

To reach the final once again, Scott will have to get past Bracken County in a semifinal match at 6 p.m. Wednesday. In the first match of the season for both teams, Scott came away with a 2-0 victory on Aug. 14. They both have a 23-15 record going into their region tournament rematch.

After holding off a comeback by Campbell County to win the 37th District final in five sets, Scott had to do it again against Bourbon County.  The Eagles won the first two sets, 25-23, 25-16, lost the next two, 16-25, 25-27, and then took the match with a 15-6 decision in the tiebreaker set.

Scott’s leading hitter, sophomore Milyn Minor, was named 10th Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association prior to Monday’s match. She ended the regular season with 384 kills in 101 sets for a 3.80 average and has more than 950 kills in her three-year varsity career.

Holy Cross senior Julia Hunt, the leading hitter in the state this season, is the KVCA 9th Region Player of the Year. The 6-foot-3 middle hitter finished her final season with 658 kills in 95 sets for a 6.93 average. She also had 110 blocks for the Indians.
