Isabella Jayasuriya led the Campbell County Camels to their 23rd win of the season and into the 10th Region championship game against top-ranked George Rogers Clark with a 66-55 win over Nicholas County Friday at Harrison County.

The two teams haven’t met this season as GRC continued its one-sided winning ways with a 101-37 romp over Mason County in the other semifinal game Friday. The teams will meet at 7 p.m. Saturday at Harrison County.

Jayasuriya, a senior, hit on four of seven two-point field goals and three of six from three-point range with four of five free throws for 21 points. Freshman Lily Bittner added 12 points for the Camels while senior Madelein Barbian added 11.

Jayasuriya also led Campbell County with nine rebounds while Bittner and Addie Davis had six each.

As for the 28-2 GRC team, the Winchester club has won 19 straight with just one loss to a Kentucky team this season – Louisville Assumption. And when these two faced each other in last year’s 10th Region tourney, it was all George Rogers Clark in a 68-34 romp over the Camels.

That’s kind of the GRC story this season as last year’s Sweet 16 finalist (a 65-60 loser to Louisville Sacred Heart) has beaten Northern Kentucky teams Notre Dame, the Ninth Region champs, 55-32, and Bishop Brossart, 77-23, this season. But in its one close game, beat Ryle by just three, 48-45.
