AAA collecting food items for Fuel Hope, Fight Hunger campaign, including in Florence, Newport

As food insecurity remains a pressing challenge across the United States, AAA is launching a nationwide giving and volunteer campaign in partnership with Feeding America® to help meet the growing need.

Now underway, the grassroots effort aims to provide at least 4.5 million meals to individuals and families facing hunger through local partner food banks nationwide.

“This effort is about more than a meal. It is about bringing comfort, dignity and hope to people facing difficult circumstances,” said Tom Wiedemann, CEO, AAA Club Alliance. “Now in its second year, this effort reflects the power of our Associates and Members coming together to support our neighbors and help build a future where no one has to wonder where their next meal will come from.”

With AAA’s expansive reach, including thousands of dedicated associates and nearly 58 million members in the United States, the organization aims to raise awareness, generate donations, mobilize volunteer time and engage local communities in building a hunger‑free America.

In Kentucky, AAA will be collecting nonperishable food items at AAA Hamburg, 3008 Atkinson Ave., Lexington; AAA Palomar, 3710 Palomar Centre Drive, Lexington; AAA Florence, 8711 U.S. Hwy. 42, Florence; and AAA Newport, 63 Carothers Rd., Newport.

In addition, AAA associates will be volunteering at God’s Food Pantry in Lexington.

“We can end hunger when we work together,” said Elizabeth Pettengill, interim vice president, corporate and foundation partnerships at Feeding America. “Through the Fuel Hope, Fight Hunger campaign, together we will help provide meals to help ensure more neighbors have access to the food and resources they need to thrive.”

In every community across the country, families are navigating rising costs and limited access to food.

According to Feeding America, nearly 47 million people, including 13.8 million children, experienced food insecurity in the United States.

In Kentucky, 753,410 people are facing hunger, including 213,830 children. The summer months can be especially difficult for children who rely on school meals, making community-based efforts during this time especially critical.
