Obituary For Barbara A. Stein

Barbara “Barb” A. Stein (nee Clinkinbeard), age 77, passed away on Friday, March 6th, 2026. She was born in Covington, KY on October 13th, 1948 to the late Edna and Virgil Clinkinbeard.

Barbara worked as an accountant for McCaslin, Imbus & McCaslin law firm for 51 years before her retirement. Barb is survived by her loving husband Dennis Stein. Barb and Denny were high school sweethearts from Notre Dame Academy and Covington Catholic high school in Park Hills, Kentucky. They were married for 57 years. Barb is also survived by her children Amy (David) McDowell, Tricia Mercalde and Becky (Tom) McGill along with her twelve dear grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Chris Clinkinbeard and her parents Edna and Virgil Clinkinbeard.

Barb will be remembered most for the deep love she had for her family and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. Nothing meant more to Barb than spending time with the people she loved—whether gathered around the table playing cards or creating memories with her children, grandchildren, and the many beloved dogs and grand-dogs who were always part of her family.

Barb enjoyed golfing, relaxing on the beach, and traveling on vacations that allowed her to soak in the sunshine and spend time with those closest to her. She often could be found curled up with a good novel, happily lost in a story.

Anyone who knew Barb also knew her fierce loyalty to her favorite men’s basketball team, the Kentucky Wildcats. She cheered them on with pride and enthusiasm every season.

In honor of Barb and her love for the Wildcats, guests are warmly invited to dress in their Wildcat spirit wear or Kentucky “blue” to celebrate her life.

Above all else, Barb’s life was defined by love—love for her family, her friends, her pets, and the moments that brought everyone together. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13th from 10am-12pm at St. Joseph Church Crescent Springs, 2470 Lorraine Ct., Crescent Springs, KY 41017. Mass of Christian burial will take place following the visitation at 12pm at St. Joseph Church. Interment will be at Mother of God cemetery.

The family welcomes guests to celebrate her life at the Villa Hills Civic Club, 729 Rogers Rd, Villa Hills, KY 41017 following the burial at 3:00pm.

Memorial donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society.
