Obituary For Dennis Hobt. Sr.
Dennis C. Hobt, 78, of Bellevue, KY, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. He was born April 20, 1947, to the late Charles and Francis (nee Bryson) Hobt in Dayton, KY. Dennis retired as an account manager with Graeters, Coca-Cola, and Keebler. He was preceded in death by his loving spitfire of a wife, Sandy (nee McGarrell) Hobt, his parents, sister Sherry Kues, and sister Barbara Woosley. Dennis is survived by his son Dennis (Jody) Hobt II, daughter Nicole (Shane) Miller, son Jeff Olliges, daughter Jennifer Olliges, and daughter Michelle Ritchason. He is also survived by his grandchildren Justin, Ashley, Skylar, Caleb, Kaitlin, Ben, Taylor, and Max, as well as two great-grandchildren, Lorelei and Ryleigh. And we must not forget his faithful furry friend, Paco. Paco was his trusty little companion that he and his granddaughter Skylar, or “Burger” as he called her, picked out together. You could usually catch Dennis enjoying a nice cold Coca-Cola while watching a western or MASH on repeat, with Paco in his lap. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including bowling, hanging out with friends and family playing cornhole, and traveling with his sons every year to watch UK compete in the SEC Tournament. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids on the family camping trips that Sandy would arrange, and he enjoyed passing the time with a pole in the water. Dennis was quite the baller when he was younger, having his accolades showcased in the paper often. He was a man of many nicknames including Denny, Papaw, Peepaw, and Grumppaw. He loved finding a new dad joke every day, and we will miss him terribly. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2025, at Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Bellevue. Funeral service will immediately follow at Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Sweeny officiating. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in honor of his loved ones that have passed from this terrible disease, at 1640 Lyndon Farms Court, Suite 104, Louisville, KY 40223.
