Dolores A. Kleier
Passed 6/10/2025
Obituary For Dolores A. Kleier
Dolores A. Kleier, 92, of Burlington, KY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Rosedale Green.
Born in Covington, KY to the late Joseph and Anna Kunkel, Dolores was one of eleven children in a large and loving family. Her generous spirit and strong work ethic were evident throughout her life, particularly in her nearly 40-year career as a registered nurse, starting at St. Elizabeth Hospital prior to joining Dr. Kenneth E. Lanter’s office for many years. After his retirement, Dolores then went to the VA Hospital in Ft. Thomas, KY, where she retired from.
A devoted member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Dolores was active in many of the church’s ministries and community groups. She was also a proud member of the Red Hat Society and the Women’s Auxiliary. Her passion for gardening was shared with many—quite literally—through her beloved “seed sharing” tradition, spreading “Anna’s Garden” of Xenia flowers far and wide in honor of her mother.
Affectionately known as “Aunt Dolores,” she was a cherished presence in the lives of her many nieces and nephews, often stepping in as a surrogate grandmother and always offering support and love. She deeply treasured her family and poured her energy into supporting her sons in all their pursuits—especially in 4-H.
Dolores loved camping, fishing, square dancing, and taking golf cart rides with her loved ones. She especially delighted in visits from “all the kids,” whose presence brought her joy.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ned George Kleier; siblings: Joseph (Pat) Kunkel, Betty Lou (Ted) Kleier, Charles Kunkel, Louis (Ann) Kunkel, Margaret (Dick) Gregory and four infant siblings.
Dolores is survived by her loving sons, Michael Kleier and Mark (Diane) Kleier; Paul Meyer; sister, Aileen (Gerald) Sherman; as well as the numerous nieces and nephews who considered her grandma.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial, 12:30 PM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 5876 Veterans Way, Burlington, KY 41005. Interment will immediately follow at Burlington IOOF Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary School Tuition Assistance Program, 5876 Veterans Way, Burlington, KY 41005.
