Obituary For Doris M. Hicks

Doris M. Hicks, 96, of Edgewood, KY, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a member of St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, KY. Doris had a passion for learning and reading. She especially loved literature. Doris earned her Bachelor's degree from Thomas More College in 1973, her Master's degree from Xavier University in 1975, and her Rank I from Xavier University in 1979.

She became an elementary school teacher with Covington School Systems in 1970. Doris worked primarily in the gifted and talented reading and creating writing programs before retiring after 25 years of service.

She loved to golf and travel. Doris also enjoyed entertaining guests and friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband: William "Bill" C. Hicks; daughter: Connie Hicks Kaiser and sisters: Kathleen (Donald) Goetz and JoAnn (Jerry) Eisenman.

She is survived by her children: Gary (Darlene) Hicks and Jody Hicks; grandchildren: Anna (Marty) Rankin, Dustin Hicks and Aaron Hicks; 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 9:30 AM until the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, 348 Dudley Road, Edgewood, KY 41017. Interment will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family at Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright, KY.
