Obituary For Doris McClanahan
Doris “Jean” McClanahan, 91, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at VillaSpring in Erlanger, KY.
She was born as the only child of Elva and Jessie Dunaway. Jean grew up on the family farm, graduating as valedictorian of her class from Butler High School. She was a member of Falmouth Baptist Church, formerly Butler Baptist Church. While in High School, Jean and her friend Dessie loved singing at local events, most notably on the Essco Hankins Show on Lexington WLAP. On June 25, 1955, Jean and Charles E. were married and started their life together (she passed away 10 days shy of their 70th anniversary).
As a mom of three and homemaker, she was very involved in the kids lives. She would take on sewing and ironing for other people as well. Jean eventually went to work as a secretary for Winter Insurance Agency for 23 years. She loved her Cincinnati Reds and Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball, but she would watch many other games as well.
She enjoyed traveling and was always ready to go whether it was camping, the lake, Amish Country, Ft. Myers, Florida, and other parts of the U.S.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter-in-law, Kathy McClanahan, and two baby great-grandsons.
She is survived by her loving husband Charles E. of Erlanger; daughter, Fonda (Tad) Leach of Lexington, KY; her sons, Terry McClanahan of Erlanger, and Gary (Carla) McClanahan of West Chester, OH. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, KY. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be directed to: American Heart Association
