Obituary For Gary L. Baker

Gary L. Baker, 68, of Union, Kentucky, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 after a battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Jarrell Ottie Jeffrey. Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 46 years, Stephanie (O’Donnell) Baker; his parents, Elizabeth Jeffrey and Richard “Dick” Baker; his daughters, Allison Milincic (Marko) and Haley Haggard (Jimmy); his sisters, Angela Jeffrey and Melissa Rice; and his brothers, Jarrell “Jeff” Jeffrey Jr., and Randy Jeffrey. Gary’s grandchildren, Lexi, Sasha, and Maks were an absolute source of endless joy to him. Gary had charisma about him that filled every room he entered. Chemistry in all aspects of life came easy to him with people and with science.

He turned his chemistry and biology degrees from NKU into a 46-year career with DuBois Chemicals culminating as Vice-President of New Business Development & Technology in the Paper Group. His dedication was unparalleled as he even had to call in deceased on the day of his passing.

Gary will be remembered for his love of family, especially his grandchildren. He passed along his passion for golf and fishing to his grandchildren to enjoy the rest of their lives. There will never be a day when the grandkids pick up a golf club or a fishing pole without remembering the legacy of their Papaw. He also passed along the phone number of a good handyman to his wife and daughters because he was the ultimate Mr. Fixit of All Things.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, August 19, 2024, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 10272 US-42, Union, Kentucky 41091, at 10:00 a.m. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Elizabeth Foundation – Cancer Care Fund in memory of Gary Baker, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, Kentucky 41017 or online at: https://www.stelizabeth.com/care/community-outreach-menu/foundation/donate-to-the-foundation/.
