Gertrude "Butch" Rice, 96, of Union, Kentucky, born to the late Ralph J. and Goldie Euth Huffman on 4/20/1927 in Covington, Kentucky passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones on 6/24/2023. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Jim Rice, her son, Kim Rice, grandson Jacob Rice, and brothers, Ralph O. and Jerry L. Huffman. She is survived by her children, Denice (Bud) Rader, Jimbo (Cristal) Rice, Tim (Denise) Rice, Diana Rice, Tommy Rice, and Donna (Theresa) Rice, and her brother, Raymond Huffman. She is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, 21 Great grandchildren, and 4 Great Great grandchildren with two on the way. Gertrude began her career at 18 years old as a Liscensed Dispensing Optician and retired at the age of 65. Gertrude loved swimming, diving, water skiing, dancing, ice skating and roller skating. She was recognized by WXIX Television for having four generations of skaters at Jimmie's Rollerdome in Elsmere, Kentucky. A memorial will be held on November 11th, 2023 from 3-6pm, with a service beginning at 530pm, at Schoolyard Winery in Verona, Kentucky. Brother Mike Jones of Big Bone Baptist Church will be leading the service. Donations in Gertrude's name can be made to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
