Obituary For Jacqueline Hatfield Hudepohl

Jacqueline Hatfield Hudepohl, 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 3, 2025, in her home in
Lexington, South Carolina. Jackie had many talents and passions, but none more important to her than
her family. Though she was the only child of Ellen and James Hatfield, she grew up around an abundant
family of uncles and cousins and aunts. She married high school sweetheart Dave Hudepohl and they
settled in their hometown of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, where she raised her four children, Jamee (spouse
Christian), Adam, Hank (spouse Becky), and Josh. She is survived by her husband, her children, and her
four grandchildren, Casey (spouse Katherine), Alex (spouse Daniel), Maddie, and Henry.

In addition to her devotion as a parent, Jackie had many accomplishments in both professional and
academic settings. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati and later obtained her master’s
degree in nursing from UC. She taught nursing at Xavier, Northern Kentucky University, and the
University of Cincinnati. At other times, she was a school nurse, a nursery school founder, and an
entrepreneur who created adult education classes through her business, Awakenings.

Jackie was a talented writer and lifelong learner. She published numerous creative pieces in the
Cincinnati Enquirer Sunday paper, academic research, and toward the end of her life, she published two books of poetry. Jackie also practiced therapeutic and infant massage at St. Anne’s Convent and in private practice. Jackie loved reading novels, watching the birds, listening to windchimes, talking with friends, fudge, peaches, fresh tomatoes, cats, and dogs, prisms, guiding a horse drawn carriage in snow, hot cocoa, Christmases, all the seasons, her grandchildren, porch sitting, flowers, playing guitar, garage sales and cinnamon toast. She had a sense of honor, expected people to do the right thing, and she
would not stand silently by if they did not. She was a spirit guide for others in ways that only they know.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Jackie’s memory with a donation to the charity of your choice—especially those that nurture families, education and spiritual sanctuaries.
