Obituary For Jean Dorothy Glaven

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Dorothy Glavan, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the age of 90 in Florence, Kentucky, where she recently moved with her husband, Joe to be nearer to family.

Jean was the last surviving child of Emil and Dorothy Leinweber, born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 4, 1935, alongside her twin brother, Jim. She was the youngest of five siblings: Mary Lou, Jack, Joe, and Jim Leinweber.

Jean dedicated almost 20 years of her professional life as a secretary and Human Resources coordinator at Packaging Corporation of America in Wheeling, Illinois. After retiring, she and her husband Joe moved from Arlington Heights, Illinois—where they raised their three children—to Conway, South Carolina. In Conway, Jean embraced retirement by taking up golf, volunteering for many years at the local hospital, and enjoying daily walks and bicycle rides through her neighborhood. She loved connecting with neighbors and took pride in delivering the local newsletter during her walks. Jean also cherished traveling with Joe, especially on cruises and road trips to visit family and friends.

Jean and Joe were married for over 60 years, setting an inspiring example of love and devotion for their children and grandchildren. They were able to enjoy a last cruise to celebrate their milestone anniversary in 2024.

In addition to her beloved husband, Joseph J. Glavan, Jr., Jean is survived by her children, Joseph J. Glavan, III, Tod F. Glavan, and Jacki (Peter) Wojcik; her grandchildren, Joseph J. (Danielle) Glavan, IV, Janey Glavan, Benjamin Glavan, Paige Glavan, Dylan Glavan, Casey Wojcik, Brody Wojcik, and Mason Wojcik; and her great-grandson, Joseph J. Glavan, V.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Pius X Church, 348 Dudley Rd., Edgewood, KY 41017 (date to be determined). In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed by a memorial contribution to the Dementia Society of America in Jean’s name.
