Joe Louis Swango, age 95, of Anderson Township, Ohio, peacefully passed away on September 21, 2025. Born on February 20, 1930, in Gallatin County, Kentucky, to Curtis Swango and Ethel Brown Swango, Joe lived a life rich in service and devotion. As a proud U.S. Army veteran, Joe exemplified dedication and commitment not just to his country, but also to his community. He was a valued member of Florence Christian Church and actively participated in the former Florence, Kentucky Masonic Lodge. Known for his passion as a loyal University of Kentucky fan, he also found joy in camping, sharing special moments with loved ones in nature. Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thelma, who passed in 2016, along with his brothers, Marvin and Harvey Swango. He leaves behind a cherished family: his daughter, Connie Swango-Holtmann (Steven), granddaughters Michelle Cox (Shawn) and Sarah Holtmann, and great-grandchildren Damir Holtmann, Justice Holtmann, Tyler Cox, Ava Cox, Kayla Cox, and Madeline Cox. Joe's legacy will continue through many nieces and nephews who adored him. Join us to celebrate Joe's remarkable life. A visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home, located at 7500 US 42, Florence, KY 41042. A Masonic Service will take place at 12:45 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 1 PM. Burial will occur at Warsaw Cemetery.
