Obituary For John Jasper

John Jasper, 69, of Duck, North Carolina, passed from this life on July 12, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Adraw (Stewart) Jasper.

John grew up in Latonia, Kentucky and attended Newport Catholic High School. He studied History and English at Northern Kentucky University, received a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Cincinnati, and a JD in Public Interest Law from Antioch College in Ohio.

John was a true public servant, becoming the City Manager of Chevy Chase, Maryland at a young age. He was the first Ombudsman for the City of Covington, and worked as a prosecutor for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the Department of the Interior in the U.S. government in Washington, D.C. He loved politics and worked on many political campaigns on the local, state, and federal level.

In addition to his family and friends, John loved to travel the world. He played semi-pro rugby, ran with the bulls in Spain several times, was a published author, liked riding his Harley, and watching sunsets in the Outer Banks with his dog, Vito.

John leaves behind his beloved children, Caitlin, of Richmond, Virginia, and John Taulbe of Washington, D.C. He will be forever missed by his siblings, Chris (Mike) Battaglia, Patty, Paul (Terrie), Michelle (Larry) Poe, Daniel (LeaAnne), and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future. Condolences may be sent to cbattaglia2@yahoo.com
