Jorheta Roach
6/20/1935 - 11/23/2025
Obituary For Jorheta Roach
Known lovingly as “Meemaw Glasses,” Jorheta was a very proud mother to Jay,
devoted mother-in-law to Laura, and a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother
whose family meant everything to her. Family was the center of her life. Her greatest joy
came from being present for every milestone—big or small. Whether attending every
major event, cheering from the sidelines at her grandchildren’s sports games, or
catching up with loved ones over the phone, she showed up with enthusiasm, pride, and
unwavering support. She cherished her weekly lunches with her high school friends,
who she loved dearly, and was always sharing the stories of the fun times they had.
As a graduate of Newport High School, Jorheta was deeply involved in her community.
She served as an officer at Fifth Third Bank for 27 years and generously volunteered
with numerous organizations, including the American Cancer Society, St. Elizabeth for
29 years, AmeriCorps Seniors, the Women’s Crisis Center, and Tall Stacks. She was
honored at the Oaks at Churchill Downs as a breast cancer survivor.
Her style was unmistakable—sparkly shoes, aqua glasses, and the confidence of a true
Maxxinista. Strangers often stopped to compliment her sense of fashion, and her
remarkable personality. Her laughter was contagious, her positivity unwavering, and her
devotion to her family absolute. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and
connection that will continue to shine through the generations who adored her.
Jorheta was the daughter of the late Marcus H. Blevins and Edna (Nee Back) Blevins.
She was preceded in death by her husband James S. Roach, Sr, brothers Vernon, Roy,
Marcus Jr., Donald, Johnny, and James Blevins, and sisters Venice Lay and Velma
Lindon. She has a surviving sister Jane Bartlett. Special grandmother to Heather
Rudisell (Todd), Robby Roach (Jen), and Brad Roach (Krista). Loving great-
grandmother to Carly Crosthwaite, London Griffin, Lucy Roach, Nolan Roach, Evan
Roach, and Trent Roach. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. Visitation 9:00 am until 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 3 at Dobbling Funeral Home, 106 S. Ft. Thomas Avenue, Fort Thomas. Funeral Mass following at 11:00 am at Holy Spirt Church, 825 Washington Ave., Newport. Entombment in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. In place of flowers, donations in Jorheta’s memory are suggested to Cancer Free Kids at 615 Elsinore Place Suite #777, Cincinnati, OH 45202. www.cancerfreekids.org
