Joyce A. Lanigan (née Bates), 91, of Union, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Joyce was born in Newport, Kentucky, to her late parents, Frank and Mary Bates. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Porter R. Lanigan.

Joyce is survived by her children, Randy Lanigan, Barbara Ruehl, Michael Lanigan, and Darell Lanigan; she will be greatly missed by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her cherished dog, Rosie.

She was a devoted member of Beaver Lick Christian Church and loved her church family. Joyce enjoyed shopping and taking care of her hair, nails, and makeup. She also had a passion for gardening and animals. She will be remembered as a woman with a heart of gold who deeply loved her grandchildren.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 U.S. Hwy 42, Florence, Kentucky 41042, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kentucky SPCA at www.kentuckyspca.org.
