Obituaries

Karen Jean Justice, 77, of Somerset, KY and formerly of Dayton, KY, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset.

She was a Warehouse Worker with Cencage Learning, Independence. Karen was devoted to her family & church and will be missed by all this who love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Helen Shirar; husband, William "Bill" Justice and sister, Charlene Dreistadt.

Karen is survived by her husband, Reginald Van Cleave; daughters, Phyllis (Mark) McGovern & Barbara (Kersean) Rozier; sons, Clifford (Tammy) Mersfelder and Toby (Lacee) & Keith (Christina) Justice; stepsons, Ronnie (Felicia) & Troy (Doris) Justice; step daughter, Shannon Mersfelder; sisters, Jennifer (Ken) Appell, Lynn (Joe) MacPherson & Rose Ann Shirar; brother, Bill Shirar; 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., with the Funeral Service to follow at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 26th at East Dayton Baptist Church, Dayton. Karen will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
