Obituary For Kathy Metcalf
Kathy Lou Metcalf, 65, passed away peacefully Sunday June 25, 2023, at 8:55am in hospice at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky after bravely fighting a long illness. She was born June 9, 1958, in Covington, Kentucky, the daughter of J. Frank and Nana Lou Whalen.
Kathy graduated from Boone County High School class of 1976 and graduated Daytona State College with her associate degree in 2017. She worked over 30 years as a banker and the last 10 years as an insurance agent. Kathy was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and her family greatly. She was a member of the Crescent Springs Church of God. Everyone who knew her said she was a kindred spirit.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father J. Frank Whalen, her mother Nana Lou Salyer, her brother Tony Whalen, and her three grandchildren Faith, Elijah, and Jeremiah Metcalf. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Richard Metcalf Sr of Somerset, Kentucky, her three children Dr. Jessica (David) Anderson, Heather (Tony) Piromalli, and Richard (Kalle) Metcalf Jr all of Somerset, Kentucky, her seven grandchildren Dawson Hooker, Sierra Perry, Brooke Metcalf, Emberly Metcalf, Richard Metcalf III, Kaleb Metcalf, and Benjamin Metcalf all of Somerset, Kentucky, her brothers Jim (Cindy) Whalen of Union, Kentucky and Marty (Vickie) Whalen of Florence, Kentucky, her sisters Joyce (Tim) Ellis of Florence, Kentucky and Beth (Tim) Amrhein of Arcanum, Ohio, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who all cherish her memory.
Services will be held at Stith Funeral Home in Florence, Kentucky Saturday July 1, 2023. Viewing for friends and family from 10-12, service starting at noon with graveside procession and burial following.
