Obituary For Margaret Frances Tanner

Margaret Frances Tanner, 74, of Elsmere, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Marg was born on November 24, 1948, in Covington, Kentucky to Thomas and Beulah (Ransdell) Hopson. She was a 1968 graduate of Dixie Heights High School. She graduated from the Northern Kentucky State Vocational School of Practical Nursing in 1968 and became a Licensed Practical Nurse.

On November 9, 1973, Marg married Ron Tanner and they had almost 50 years of a beautiful life together. Marg was a homemaker while her children were young. As her children got older, she worked as an LPN for 15 years at Booth Hospital in Florence. She also worked as a medical transcriber for 19 years with Good Samaritan Hospital until she retired in 2012.

Marg loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She loved swimming and playing with her five grandchildren. She and her husband enjoyed taking daily walks. She loved shopping and working on crossword puzzles.

Marg is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas & Beulah (Ransdell) Hopson and her sisters, Connie (the late Cary) Sallee and Beverly Hopson.

Surviving is her husband of 49 years, Ronald W. Tanner; daughter, Jill (Brian) Young of Burlington; son, Greg (Krishna) Tanner of Burlington; sisters, Jane (the late Homer) McClure of New Queen, Arizona & Pat McMillen of Florence; brother, Tommy (Garnett) Hopson of Houston, Texas; grandchildren; Tanner, Harrison and Isabella Young and Riven and Laiken Tanner; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In the three years that followed Marg’s Frontotemporal Dementia diagnosis, she taught her entire family what it truly means to love sacrificially.

Marg’s family will host a visitation to celebrate her life on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 4:30-6:30 at the Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home in Erlanger, Kentucky. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 6:30. Inurnment will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, Williamstown, Kentucky.

Donations are suggested to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (afsp.org) in Marg’s honor. She always had a heart for anyone who was down on their luck or having life struggles.
