Obituary For Mary Lou Horn-Turner

Mary Lou Horn-Turner, age 73, of Alexandria, KY., living previously in Dayton, KY., passed into eternal life Friday, October 17 th at Cold Spring Transitional Care Center, Cold Spring, KY., after several years of battling Parkinson’s disease and Dementia.

Mary Lou was proud of her life’s accomplishments. After graduating high school, she enjoyed teaching CCD classes at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, along with graduating from Thomas More College, Chase Law School and Bethesda Nursing School. Before retiring, she was the Rehabilitation Nursing Manager with Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital, Florence, KY.

Her favorite hobbies were playing softball into her 50’s, hand-stitching, needle point, taking casual walks and walking in marathons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Ellen Horn, her infant brother, Michael Steven, and her dear aunt, Louise Bennett.

Mary Lou is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Carlis Turner, her brothers, Gerald (Gail) Horn, Kenneth (Cheryl Imhoff) Horn, and David (Janice) Horn, along with nieces and nephews, Melissa Carter, Jay Horn, Jenny Stoecklin, Beth Pierman, Shauna, Christopher, Aaron, Christopher, Zachary, Abigail and all their families.

Mary Lou loved family gatherings and spending time with all family members, especially her nieces and nephews. Her smile, thoughtfulness and dedication will be remembered for years to come.

Mary Lou appreciated the time and kindness that family members and friends gave her throughout her illness, along with the entire staff at Cold Spring who became her medical team and caregivers for just shy of the past 3 years.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Dayton, KY., from 10:30 until 12 p.m., with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12 p.m.

Following the mass, she will be laid to rest at a Christian burial at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, 1523 Alexandria Pike, #A, Fort Thomas, KY 41075.
