Obituary For Patrick George Collins

Lifelong Northern Kentucky resident Patrick George Collins died peacefully on December 1st, 2024, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, with loving family members at his side.

Aged 82 years, having been born on May 22nd, 1942, to George Joseph Collins and Ellen Ann Collins (nee Skelton), Patrick spent his childhood growing up in Covington and attended Covington Catholic High School. He served honorably in the United States Marines Corps, rising to the rank of Corporal and received the Good Conduct Medal.

Patrick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a trusted friend. He worked tirelessly for nearly 30 years as a production worker at Bluegrass Meats, where he also served his colleagues as the Union Shop Steward for UFCW Local 7A. Later, he found joy working at Meadowood Golf Course, closer to his lifelong passion – the game of golf. A self-taught golfer, Patrick consistently kept a single-digit handicap and often played new courses for the first time at or near level par. He was a strong adherent to Rule No. 8, "Play the course as you find it," applying its principle beyond the game to his everyday life as well. Discipline, attention to detail, and doing the right thing even when no one else was watching were important values to him.

Patrick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Frances A. Collins (nee White) in 2017. He is survived by his son, Richard P. Collins (Milja) of Helsinki, Finland, and daughter, Catherine M. Collins of Elsmere, who will cherish his memory. He also leaves behind a sister, Mary Carol Koch (Ronald) of Middletown, Ohio, and brothers, Paul Collins of Latonia, Michael Collins (Diana) of Wilder, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his dear dog Katie.

Patrick is now at peace in the company of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will be laid to rest beside his wife Franny and near his parents at Mother of God Cemetery in Latonia.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the restoration fund at St. Augustine Church, 1839 Euclid Ave. Covington, KY 41014 or www.staugustines.net
