Obituary For R. Douglas Baxter

R. Douglas “Doug” Baxter, 82, of Covington, KY, and Cincinnati, OH, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. He retired from Baxter Burial Vault Service which was begun by his father in 1924 and is now operated by his children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don & Mary Baxter; wife, Sharon "Sherry" (nee. Shannon) Baxter and brother, Don E. Baxter II. Doug is survived by his daughter, Holly (Greg Weber) Bridgers; sons, Darren (Teresa) Baxter & Trevor (Liz) Baxter; stepson, Drew (John McCoy) Shannon; 6 grandchildren, Georgia, Hope, Gabriella, Paige, Isla & Liam; sister, Ann Wiethe and his first wife, Barbara (Doug Jones) Baxter. Doug Baxter lived life to the fullest over the years, boating, golfing, carousing! He had a special chair at all his favorite places: Mike Fink, Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club and Blinkers! We want to acknowledge the dear friends at Blinkers who treated him like one of the crew. We also want to honor Jeri Moore, who was so much more than a caregiver - she was a friend, a confidant and always there for Doug and our family.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. -1 p.m., Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Norman Chapel at Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati. A Graveside Service will immediately follow the Visitation and friends & guests are invited to attend. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriner's Burns Institute, 1 Children's Plaza, Dayton, OH 45404 or the Special Olympics (Specialolympics.org), 921 Eastwind Dr. Suite 120, Westerville, OH 43081.
