Obituary For Sarah Irene Iles Dixon
Sarah Irene Iles Dixon, known to those who loved her simply as Rene, departed this earth on September 7, 2025 at her home in Independence, KY. Born on December 27, 1964, she was the daughter of Robert Iles and Delia Phelps Iles.
Rene was the beloved mom of Tommi Dixon (Lucas) and step-mom to Travis Dixon and Lilian Gentry (Andy). She was a dear sister to Don Iles (Tiffany), Barb Iles (Hot Rod), Shirley Audas, John Boles (Michelle), Bobby Compton, Keith Deck and Eric Deck. She was also a treasured grandma to several grandchildren, as well as an adored “nene” (aunt and great-aunt) to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Rene possessed a heart for children. She cared for her own but also those of so many others. She possessed a knack for home remodeling and was a whiz at painting interiors. Rene cherished those special times she could spend with those she cared for. Those present at family get-togethers looked forward frequently to her famous baked beans, cupcakes or French toast. Rene enjoyed live music tremendously. She and Tommi would turn going into a concert into a full-blown vacation, traveling over many states to see the artists they most loved. One of Rene’s favorite hobbies was to watch TV with her devoted dog Max by her side on the couch. Specifically, she was a fan of classic and long-standing soap operas like General Hospital. After the episode, she would call her Aunt Chad to discuss all the juicy details. Rene could strike up a conversation and make friends with nearly anyone. Scottish poet Thomas Campbell wrote “to live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” Rene has done just that.
All services will be held at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY, 41051. Rene was loved by so many. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another’s company, and honor the legacy Rene leaves behind on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM until shortly before the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Directly following the funeral, Rene will be laid to rest at Mother Of God Cemetery, 3125 Madison Ave., Latonia, KY, 41015.
