He was also selected by colleagues and competitors for honorary membership in the Best Lawyers in America for 15 consecutive years as a specialist in Workers Compensation Law. Silas took up running in mid-life, completing 7 marathons, one of which involved a trek across the Grand Canyon and again he developed many lasting friendships during this time. He remained active in his later years, taking up and later perfecting his golf game. His first sporting love, as many who knew and loved him will know, was basketball, specifically the Kentucky Wildcats and the Duke Blue Devils. Silas leaves behind his beloved daughters, Rebecca Spohn (Charles) of Little Rock, AR and Allison Thurman of Jackson, MS, and grandchildren, Will Spohn, Olivia Spohn, Rylie Rose Thurman and Ella Thurman.
