Obituary For Teresa Ann McGuire

Teresa Ann McGuire of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky died on November 23, 2025. She had just celebrated her 59th birthday on Halloween. Teresa was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her family will miss her immensely.

Teresa was born in Covington, Kentucky on October 31, 1966, to William Seymour Peniston and Angela Blanche Peniston. Teresa grew up in a large family and was one of nine children. Her parents had four sets of twins, meaning that eight of their nine children were twins- including Teresa. Teresa loved to share this with people and talked fondly about growing up with so many siblings.

Teresa graduated from Holmes High School in 1984. She got married and started a family soon after- giving birth to her daughter Heather in 1986 and her son Richard in 1987. Teresa was extremely proud of her children and loved being a mother.

Most of Teresa’s professional life consisted of warehouse jobs. She was a hard worker and spent the majority of her time in leadership positions. She was always quick to offer her help to her team and was admired for her work ethic. Many of her coworkers became lifelong friends. She was most recently employed at McLane Foodservice as a warehouse administrator until April of 2024 when her ALS diagnosis forced her to resign.

Teresa was someone that you could count on- always willing to help a friend or a family member. She loved to play games with her family and friends and would never turn down a card game. She enjoyed playing slots and blackjack at the casino. She was extremely involved as a grandma and loved to be on the sidelines at soccer games, cross-country meets and band competitions. She seldom missed a school event or an opportunity to support her grandchildren. Teresa loved going on walks with her family, going to parks, and vacationing with her children and grandchildren. She was a huge Garth Brooks fan and enjoyed seeing him live many times. She also loved cheering for UK basketball.

Teresa was unexpectedly diagnosed with ALS in April of 2024 at the age of 57. This came as a huge shock to everyone who loved her and it was devastating as the disease progressed and turned her life upside down. Teresa lost the ability to walk and eventually lost the ability to communicate with her family. Teresa displayed so much bravery in continuing to show up despite the cruel reality of the disease. Teresa was grateful for the support from her family that cared for her, her friends at PACE, her sisters Kim and Marian and the friends and family that continued to check in on her- especially over the last year.

Teresa is survived by her two children; Heather Isaacs (Jeremy Rider) and Richard McGuire Jr. (Rischelle), her eight grandchildren; Priscilla Luke, Paisley McGuire, Eloise Isaacs, Emmy Isaacs, Liam Rider, Pandora McGuire, Quinn Rider and Prim McGuire, as well as her 3 sisters, 5 brothers and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to ALS TDI (therapy development institute)- a nonprofit biotech organization that is focused solely on ending ALS. Our hope is that ongoing research and advocacy will change the future of this disease. Donations can be made in Teresa’s honor at als.net . Services will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, Chapel A, where visitation will be held from 9-11 AM.
