On the list of 101 airports, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport ranked No. 1 for its cheap flights.
In 2014, CVG was in the No. 77 spot, but soared to the top of this year’s Airport Affordability Index by CheapFlights.com with average airfare of $199. Average airfare on the list ranged from $199 to $842 (Honolulu International, Hawaii).
Among CVG’s competition were airports including Atlanta International (2), La Guardia (4), Chicago-O’Hare International (5), Philadelphia International (6), and Orlando International (9).
With airfare this low, CheapFlights.com wrote, “If you’re looking to get out of the city this year, you’re in luck. Atlanta, New York, Chicago and Philadelphia all broke into the top 10 in 2015 (none of which even cracked the top 30 last year), making it a great time to get away from the city. Cheaper fares from major airports means more affordable travel for many coming from these popular departure points.”
CheapFlights.com’s list was compiled based on, “average airfares travelers found on our site during the month of June to a mix of popular domestic and international destinations.”
