James C. Votruba, son of former Northern Kentucky University president, James Votruba, dies


James C. Votruba, son of former Northern Kentucky University president James Votruba, has died.

James was born February 4, 1974 in Lansing, MI to James C. and Rachel M. (Turner) Votruba. He was a resident of Holt, loved playing darts, skiing, boating at his summer cottage and animals.

He was a hard working person, always helping everybody out and was a “one of a kind” individual.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Jim and Betty Votruba, Roger and Frances Turner and his aunt, Mary Lou Votruba. He had a very special relationship with his “Grandma Becky”.

Surviving is his wife of eleven years, Heather; son Anthony, daughter Lilly, and son Nicholas; parents James and Rachel and two sisters, Elizabeth (Peter) Votruba-Drzal and Emily Votruba and his faithful dog, Molly. Also surviving are in-laws Paulette and Brent Graham.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 23, 2016, 2 p.m., at St. John Church and Student Center, 327 MAC, East Lansing, MI with Rev. Jake Foglio presiding. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church.

The family wishes to thank the ICU team at McLaren for their compassionate care, and a special thanks to Dr. Seneca Storm, cousin of James, who provided invaluable support and wise counsel.
