Half Price Books, the nation’s largest family-owned new and used bookstore chain, has launched its 18th annual Half Pint Library Book Drive to benefit local children in the store’s markets around the country.
The local Half Price Books is at 4999 Houston Road in Florence.
Through April 30, Half Price Books will serve as the drop-off site to collect new and used children’s books. Half Price Books will also match every book donated.
Community members are encouraged to donate new and gently used children’s books during the book drive. Employees of Half Price Books sort the donations to be sure children will receive quality new and used books.
The drive accepts any type of children’s book, including Spanish language books, in good condition.
Shortly after the book drive ends, giveaway events will be held at various Half Price Books locations during May, and local non-profit groups will be invited to come and pick up the donated books.
“Thanks to our generous customers, we are able to get more books into the hands that need them,” said Kathy Doyle Thomas, executive vice president and chief strategy officer of Half Price Books. “It is so important for kids to develop a love for the written word at a young age and we’re glad Half Pint Library starts that process for so many children.”
