47th annual Duveneck Memorial Art Show, featuring original art on sale, to be held Saturday noon to 5

Original paintings, sculptures, pottery and more will be on display during the 47th annual Duveneck Memorial Art Show from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at George Rogers Clark Park on Riverside Drive in Covington.

Sixty artists will exhibit work they have for sale during the show that’s held each year to honor world-renowned artist Frank Duveneck, who lived and worked in Covington.

Visitors can vote for their favorite work to receive the People’s Choice Award. There will also be a group of judges touring the booths and awarding more than $2,000 in cash prizes.

The top prize is $1,000 for the Amos Shinkle Award, an original work that reveals the joy of self-expression. The winner of the Duveneck Award will receive $500 for a two-dimensional work that depicts an historical landmark or scene in Greater Cincinnati.

There will also be cash prizes for the top three works in four categories – painting, graphics, sculpture and fine crafts – and for the Best of Show Award that includes work from all categories.

Live music will be offered during the show along with food and refreshments. If inclement weather occurs on Saturday, the show will be held on Sunday. For more information, call 859-431-0020.

The event is sponsored by the Northern Kentucky Heritage League, Baker Hunt Art & Cultural Center and Historic Licking Riverside Civic Association.
