Indiana man dies in accident on I-275 Saturday; may have suffered medical incident prior to crash


A 57-year-old Lawrenceburg man died in a single-car accident on Interstate 275 in Boone County Saturday afternoon. There were no passengers in the vehicle and no-one else was injured in the incident.

Law enforcement officials say the man may have suffered a medical event just prior to the accident.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office issued the following statement regarding the incident.

On Saturday, July 2 at approximately 2:30 p.m. Boone County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a single vehicle collision on westbound Interstate 275 at the 2.4 mile marker.

There they located the lone occupant in the vehicle deceased.

Witnesses to the collision told investigators they saw the vehicle drifting to the right before it hit the guardrail and continued approximately 100 feet before coming to a stop.

Preliminary indicators point to the driver suffering a medical event thus causing the collision.  A 57 year old man from Lawrenceburg, Indiana has been identified as the driver but we have yet to make contact with next-of-kin.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision.
