Florence man struck and killed on Turfway Road overnight; no charges filed in the incident

A Florence man was killed late Monday after being struck by a car on Turfway Road.

Florence PD logoThe Florence Police Department says Randall Sexton was crossing Turfway Road shortly before midnight Monday when he was struck by a car driven by David Lane of Florence. Sexton was not in a crosswalk and no criminal charges have been filed in the incident.  The accident remains under investigation.

The Florence Police Department issued the following statement regarding the incident:

On 09/12/2016 at approximately 2345, the Florence Police Department received a call of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian on Turfway Road in front of the BP gas station.   Investigation determined that silver Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling west bound on Turfway Road.  It was driven by David Lane of Florence.  A pedestrian, Randall Sexton of Florence, was crossing Turfway Road when the Mitsubishi struck him.  The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time and was wearing dark colored pants and no shirt.  The pedestrian was pronounced dead from his injuries at the scene by emergency medical service personnel.  His next of kin have been notified.  No criminal charges have been filed against David Lane and the accident is still under investigation.
