The Gateway Community and Technical College American Welding Society (AWS) Northern Kentucky Student Chapter will hold its first meeting at the Boone Campus, 500 Technology Way, in the Convening Center Nov. 3, at 7 p.m.

After more than a year of preparation, the AWS Northern Kentucky Student Chapter is ready to convene.

In December 2015, Gateway was named an AWS training and certification site, expanding opportunities for Gateway welding students and potential employers. The student chapter is the next step. The first Northern Kentucky chapter meeting will be an opportunity to present the future of the chapter, announce elected leadership who are industry leaders, learn the latest welding news and connect with others who share a passion for welding and metal working.

Professionals in the welding field, metal workers, vendors, welding students and those interested in welding, including high school students and parents, are invited to attend.   Organizers are looking for input from attendees regarding the offerings and future of the new Northern Kentucky AWS chapter.

“With the closest chapter in Cincinnati, Gateway is excited to offer the Northern Kentucky welding and metal working community its first AWS chapter,” said Will Donahue, Gateway welding instructor.
