Florence Police responded to St. Elizabeth Florence on March 29, for a report of a female victim receiving treatment for injuries suffered in a robbery at the Houston Road store.

According to a police report, Amalia Sanchez Peregrino, 19, and her husband, Joshua Robinson, 20, both of Florence, claimed Peregrino was walking alone in the parking lot when the attack occurred.

The couple claim, Peregrino was knocked unconscious by an unknown male who then took money and cell phones from her.

The incident received considerable attention because of the nature of the alleged crime in a high-traffic area.

Florence Police Det. Joshua Robinson was able to obtain information that a robbery had not occurred at the location. The couple recanted the statement and admitted that there was no robbery and both were charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident.

Police continued to investigate, to determine the cause of Peregrino’s injuries.

Through follow-up interviews with the couple, police say they confessed that the injuries were a direct result of a physical domestic which occurred at their home on Shenandoah Drive in Flroence.

Robinson was arrested Thursday for Assault 2nd/Domestic Violence and transported to the Boone County Detention Center.
