With a 5-3 win over the River City Rascals on Thursday night at UC Health Stadium, the Florence Freedom, presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, clinched the Frontier League West Division’s best record of the first half of the season.
With the key victory, the Freedom’s coaching staff, led by third-year manager Dennis Pelfrey, will have the privilege of leading the West Division all-stars in the 2017 Frontier League All-Star Game on July 12 in Joliet, Illinois. Pelfrey will be joined on the coaching staff by Freedom pitching coach Brian White and hitting coach Zac Mitchell.
The Freedom’s record of 30-12 entering Friday is the Frontier League’s best record overall, and Florence holds a six-and-a-half game lead over the second-place Evansville Otters. The team is currently in Evansville for a weekend three-game series against the Otters at Bosse Field.
The Florence Freedom are members of the independent Frontier League and play all home games at UC Health Stadium located at 7950 Freedom Way in Florence, KY. The Freedom can be found online at FlorenceFreedom.com, or by phone at 859-594-4487.
