Zerhusen was one of eleven finalists for the distinction and one of the three selected from the Commonwealth to be recognized as Employee of the Year.

Besides working at the Colonial Cottage for more than 5 years, Ms. Zerhusen has raised five children and is active in the lives of 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She volunteers two nights a week with her church preparing meals for the community. She brings a festive attitude to the Cottage as the resident “Cottage Elf.” She is responsible for all of the Holiday decorations that appear in the dining room.

Celebrating 85 years of service this year, the Colonial Cottage has never had one of its staff recognized for this distinction.

Owners Matt and Noelle Grimes, knew they had someone special in Pat Zerhusen and nominated her for the award.

Matt Grimes said, “The Colonial Cottage could not be more fortunate to have a team member more dedicated to her family, her church, and to making the world a better place by her example. She truly deserves this recognition.”
