Milwaukee builds huge lead, coasts to 9-3 victory over NKU on Friday

Devin Rybacki and Ben Chally each drove in three runs Friday afternoon as Milwaukee coasted to a 9-3 win over visiting Northern Kentucky University in the opener of a three-game series.

Trevor Schwecke was 2-for-3 and scored twice for Milwaukee, which upped its overall record to 18-23. The Panthers, who won despite committing three errors, improved to 10-9 in the Horizon League.

Rybacki’s three-run homer in the fourth inning extended Milwaukee’s lead to 5-0. Later in the fourth, Chally lined a two-run single to give the Panthers a 7-0 advantage.

Milwaukee added a pair of runs in the sixth inning to push the lead to 9-0. NKU scored three times in the eighth inning to avoid a shutout.

Chad Roberts, Griffin Doersching and Shane Paradis all had two hits for NKU, which dropped to 12-31 overall, 7-15 in the Horizon League. Roberts has now recorded 12 multi-hit games this season.

Norse starter Cameron Ross allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss.

NKU and Milwaukee will play again Saturday at 2 p.m.
