The Thomas More College softball team (31-14) will meet Illinois Wesleyan University (31-10-1) at 3:30 p.m. on Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at Bloomington, Illinois.
The regional begins Friday with No. 2 seed Transylvania (32-7) playing No. 3 seed DePauw (23-20) in the other first-round game.
On Saturday, the winning teams will play at 11 a.m., with Friday’s losing teams facing each other at 1:30 p.m. An elimination game will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, and the remaining two teams will then play for the regional title on Sunday at noon.
Thomas More and Illinois Wesleyan played earlier this season at the NFCA D-III Leadoff Classic, and the Titans cruised to a 12-3 win. Top-seeded Illinois Wesleyan received the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Thomas More captured its seventh Presidents’ Athletic Conference Tournament championship on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Westminster. The victory gave the Saints an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
