CINC (pronounced sync), a free summer event series designed to expose interns and co-op students to all the region has to offer, will expand to include a first-ever IT Intern Summit.
The event, which will demonstrate the collaboration and spirit of Cincinnati’s business community to grow the region’s tech talent pipeline will be co-hosted by Cincinnati’s CIO Roundtable and the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.
More than 300 summer interns and co-ops working IT roles at the 25 Roundtable member companies are expected to attend, July 25, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the Schiff Family Conference Center at Xavier University’s Cintas Center.
Keynote speakers will include Jill P. Meyer, president and CEO of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber and Cincinnati City Council Member P.G. Sittenfeld. Additionally, the IT Intern Summit will feature a workshop on IT careers led by more than 30 high-level IT executives, and a series of breakout sessions covering relevant industry topics highlighting the diversity of future IT career paths.
The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber grows the vibrancy and economic prosperity of the Cincinnati region. It does this by serving as a bold voice for the interests of its 4,000-member businesses and their more than 300,000 employees. The Chamber is committed to expanding the region’s talent base by attracting new residents and finding new ways to connect employers to skilled workers.
“CINC has already connected 1,400 interns and co-ops from 46 states and 54 countries this year. The IT Intern Summit gives us the unique opportunity to showcase Cincinnati as a region with a broad range of available tech jobs, a vibrant IT community, and business leaders who want to invest in the future of young people,” said Meyer.
The CIO Roundtable is a collaborative, collegial group of senior IT executives from more than 25 of the region’s largest IT organizations, most of them Fortune 1000 companies spanning virtually every sector.
These companies collectively account for over 7,000 IT jobs in our community. While none of these companies are “Tech Companies,” information technology is core to their business success. The group has a long history of partnering to grow our region’s tech talent pipeline, including working with the region’s universities, K-12 school systems, funding scholarships, high school student outreach programs, etc.
“The Cincinnati region is fortunate to have a collegial group of IT Executives that proactively collaborates on efforts like the IT Intern Summit to grow our Region’s tech talent pipeline,” added Geoff Smith, co-chair of the Cincinnati CIO Roundtable. “By bringing together hundreds of IT interns at this event, we hope to raise their awareness of the richness and breadth of IT career opportunities in Cincinnati and get a glimpse of its community of young tech talent.”
This year’s IT Intern Summit is exclusive to CIO Roundtable companies and by private invitation only.
